We built a parklet at the Amani Festival!

We partnered with the Carlisle Neighborhood Alliance to create a parklet at the Amani Festival downtown and it was a wild success! It was wonderful to see so many people turn out and share a space while connecting with neighbors and visitors alike.  We designed it so it would be a place where people could relax from the bustle of the festival, sip a beverage, play a game, read a book and have lively discussion with folks.

We have been working so hard to transform HP Park so we thought it would be fun to show what a few people can create with no money, sourcing things they already had lying around or other people were getting rid of and create a mini park on what is otherwise an ugly bit of asphalt.  We weren’t sure how many people would choose to play chess or ping pong or chill out with us but we couldn’t have imagined how incredible it would be by the end of the day.  We hope to find more opportunities to parklets and show how a community can connect with shared, public, engaging spaces.
