Community Invitation to Review Rental Ordinance

The Carlisle Borough Rental Ordinance was enacted January 2012  and since then many residents feel they don’t know the details about what it provides to the community.  Our neighborhood should benefit from this ordinance because over 50% of homes in the NW corner are rentals.  Renters should be able live in a home that does not have codes violations and they should feel safe to ask for upgrades that make the home structurally safe.  Landlords should be able to use this as resource if they have problem tenants and landlords can also be held accountable if they are not taking care of issues their tenants are bringing to the neighborhood.  This ordinance has an effect on everyone so all Carlisle residents should be interested in learning more about how we can use this as a tool to improve our community.
