Heberlig Palmer Tot Lot Food Forest & Park Upgrade Meeting
When: Tuesday May 28th 6:30pm
Where: Heberlig Palmer Tot Lot (between Pitt St, Lincoln St., West St, & A St)
Who: Everyone, Anyone!
UPDATE: It looks like the Landscape Designer will be able to attend the Heberlig Palmer Food Forest/Park Upgrade Meeting. It’s all the more important now that more people come out to put forth their ideas!
YAY! We have our first meeting set up to start planning a Food Forest and upgrades in Heberlig Palmer Tot Lot! We wrote a much more lengthy post describing some initial ideas so read up on it here.
Since the “Elm Street Grant” still has some money available, we will be getting a landscape planner/designer involved early on in this process. We have invited them to the meeting but we are not sure if they can attend yet. Still, we need everyone interested to attend the meeting so we can at least jot down everyone’s ideas so we can take them to the planner to start working on a design. The designer (Derck & Edson Associates) has been used by the borough for other projects in the past so they already know Carlisle. Feel free to look at their website. Here is an example of a park project they have worked on. Please tell your friends, neighbors or anyone in the borough who might be interested in helping to get this project started. We are REALLY excited about the possibilities of what Heberlig Palmer might become in the future.
The Urban redevelopment plan even referenced upgrades to Heberlig Palmer in their project. Everything in the Plan can’t be expected to be done by businesses so this seems like a perfect way the neighborhood can adopt part of the plan and get it started before anyone else!
