The Borough of Carlisle and Cumberland County are hosting a four-day series of activities and public workshops beginning on March 11, 2013 to develop the Carlisle Urban Redevelopment Plan. The schedule of public events is listed below.
The goal of the week-long open forum planning process is to gain extensive public input on the Carlisle Urban Redevelopment Plan. The purpose of the Carlisle Urban Redevelopment Plan is to create a unified vision of redevelopment in the Northwest quadrant of the Borough including, 1) the IAC, also known as the Masland/Lear property; 2) Carlisle Tire & Wheel; and 3) the vacant industrial property at 759 Hamilton Street. Once completed, the plan will integrate land use, transportation, and economic development planning to create a comprehensive urban redevelopment strategy for the Northwest quadrant of the Borough.
The first workshop will take place at the Expo Center (100 K St, Carlisle, PA 17013 ) at 6 PM on March 11, 2013. This initial meeting and the following events held throughout the week will be an excellent opportunity for residents of our community to help shape the type and character of redevelopment projects as well as to define needed infrastructure improvements within our Northwest quadrant. Please attend the initial workshop event to learn more about the project and provide input, as well as to hear about the various activities planned for the remainder of the week. You participation is crucial in shaping a plan for the future success of the Borough.
This project is made possible through the TCRPC Regional Connections program and the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development’s Municipal Assistance Program.
