Carlisle Events talks new plans for former Lear plant site

The Sentinel recently posted an article discussing some possible uses for the Lear Factory.  Here is an excerpt:

“It may only be preliminary, but Carlisle Events is one step closer to laying out plans for the former Lear/IAC site in Carlisle.

The company has received questions from area residents about what it planned to do with the abandoned site since it purchased the property in 2010. But when a fire on May 2 destroyed two buildings at the plant, that doubled the interest in the site’s future, according to Carlisle Events Media Specialist Michael Garland.

“There are a lot of people who were asking about what we would do with the property, even before the fire,” Garland said. “After the fire, there was an exponential number of people asking. I think that put us in a position – in a good way – to let people know what we were working on and just say ‘This is what we’re doing.’”

What they are doing is a plan that would combine both a residential development and a commercial development, which may include a hotel, restaurants and shops.

“What that will entail, we don’t know for sure,” Garland said. “There are no blueprints drawn. We’ve always said that we wanted to do something that will serve not only us but also our neighbors and our friends in the community.”
