Planetarium Shows and Astronomy Demonstrations Part of Dickinson Astrofest Event

 

(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson astronomy club will sponsor “Astrofest,” an evening of planetarium shows, physics and astronomy demonstrations and rooftop observation, on Saturday, April 14 2012 from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. in Tome Hall, Rector Science Complex, located on Louther Street between College and Cherry streets. The event is free and open to the public. Snacks will be provided.

Activities include making rockets, learning about the phases of the moon, glitter galaxies, Spectroscopy (the dispersion of an object’s light into its component colors) and trivia.  The planetarium shows will run from 6:45 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. and will include, “What’s Up in the Sky,” “Tour of the EM Spectrum,” and a PG-13 version of “Mythology Planetarium Show.” Rooftop observation is open from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m., weather permitting.
