Big Changes in Carlisle Government

The new year was already set to include new faces on Carlisle Borough Council but the last few weeks, and even days, have made the borough government change even more.  Carlisle’s Mayor of 26 years, Kirk Wilson, resigned in early December to take a reporting job with CBS 21 News.    Since the mayor had 2 years remaining in his term, it is up to Borough Council to appoint someone to that position for the remainder.

Borough Council is actively seeking people interested in filling the position although to date, only one person has thrown their name into the pool.  Councilman Tim Scott has submitted his interest in filling the position of Mayor and also plans to run in the open election in 2 years.

Today another vacancy to Borough Government was added when it was announced that Borough Manager, Steve Heitsch, resigned to take the position at Dickinson College as Associate Vice President, Financial Operations & Auxiliary Service.

Big happenings in the sleepy village of Carlisle but hopefully fresh faces will bring more fresh ideas.
