As of right this moment, weather tracking radar is showing that we just might have pretty decent weather for this week’s Farmer’s on the Square market day. So that’s the prediction, and we are running it!
We’ve got a full market basket this week — both in terms of what the farmers will have on offer and in terms of what events will be on tap to tempt you just to hang out with us and enjoy the lovely afternoon/evening.
Prescott’s Patch and Beechwood Orchards are planning on bringing plenty of STRAWBERRIES! These little local beauties will be part of the Strawberries and Cream Crepe demonstration that Helena Twigg, chef/owner of Helena’s Chocolate Café and Creperie will be doing between 4 and 5 PM.
Roots will be on the Square with lots of peonies: white bombs, pink bombs & reds. They will also have green wheat and the first of the snapdragons. And if we’re really lucky and get a little bit more sun, there may be lilies too!
There will also be plenty of hardy greens, lovely herbs, tangy radishes and spring onions and even some flavor-bursting micro-greens from the wide variety of produce vendors at market this week. To help the younger set of Farmers on the Square shoppers understand how all of these crops benefit from certain kinds of insects, artists from the Carlisle Arts Learning Center will be one hand between 4 and 6 PM helping little ones with a cute, buggy craft.
Between 4 and 6 PM, massage therapist Dave Bender will be on hand to help calm your nerves (but aren’t there certain compounds in cheese that help with that too! And we have plenty of that on sale from Keswick Creamery, Otterbein Acres and Pipe Dreams Fromage.)
For your musical entertainment, The Zen Bats will be on hand between 5 and 6:30 to keep the mood light and lively with their mix of jazz, blues and blue grass.
As always, highlighted here is only a portion of the wonderful things you can find at the market between 3 and 7 PM on Wednesday afternoons!
Hope to see you on the square!
