From the Sentinel:
Many kids dread the thought of going back to school in August.
So do a lot of their parents – it means back-to-school shopping.
For families like the Odoms, with one income and three kids – two already in Middlesex Elementary School and a third on the way – stretching a dollar is already tough enough.
Throw backpacks, notebooks, pens and pencils into the mix and the budget by summer’s end is ready to explode.
Thankfully, there has been some back-to-school relief for the Odoms and other Carlisle area families over the past few years.
Every August, Project SHARE, a food pantry for the greater Carlisle area, holds Project Fun Fest, in conjunction with Carlisle Evangelical Free Church and the United Way.
The event, which was held Saturday and included entertainment, games, ice cream, hot dogs and balloons for the kids, is done to help families at the start of the school year.”…….
