National Day of Action

Give. Advocate. Volunteer. How do you plan to spend the longest day of the year? On Monday, June 21, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the United Way of Carlisle and Cumberland County is looking for volunteers to give their time and heart to service projects during United Way of Carlisle & Cumberland County’s Day of Action (previously known as Day of Caring). If you, your co-workers, friends or family have been part of this great effort, you know what a fun and meaningful experience it is. Day of Action is an opportunity for people to donate a morning to help local non-profit organizations complete much needed work projects and get to know more about the needs of their neighbors and the many human service organizations working to meet those needs in the greater Carlisle area. The day will kick-off with a breakfast meeting between 8 and 8:30 a.m. at the Stuart Community Center. At that time, teams will meet, pick up t-shirts (every volunteer is given a Day of Action t-shirt as a thank-you and asked to wear it that day while “on the job”), enjoy a continental breakfast and get final instructions on the job assignment. Assignments will begin following the meeting and projects are expected to be completed by noon. Lunch will be provided by the host agency.
